Belle Meade Plantation

Built in 1853 by John Harding, this Greek Revival house was home to five generations of the Harding-Jackson family and became know for breeding and training championship horses. Many of the most famous thoroughbreds in horse racing history can trace their bloodlines to the breeding stock of the Belle Meade. Encompassing 30 acres today, The Belle Meade Plantation was the largest private estate in the city in the late 19th century when the property extended to 5,400 acres.
